In its 8th consecutive year, the Victorian Major Projects Conference continues to be the state’s premiere major projects and infrastructure industry event.
Supported by the Victorian Chamber of Commerce, the Conference attracts over 200 senior-level executives from public and private sectors annually, and features industry experts presenting on some of Victoria’s largest infrastructure projects.
Returning after her great reception last year, delegates will again receive a Ministerial Address from the Hon. Jacinta Allan MP.
The intimate two-day Conference allows attendees to network in more casual settings such as during lunch break or at the cocktail function, enabling them to discuss and debate the current major projects, Victoria’s infrastructure future plans and their own products and ideas.
Some topics and speakers that are scheduled on this year’s agenda are:
- Infrastructure Victoria’s 30-year Strategy: Michel Masson, Infrastructure Victoria’s Chief Executive, will outline the state’s short, medium and long-term infrastructure plans. Masson will discuss topics such as urban renewal and development in established and employment areas, road assessments, driverless cars and the 20-minute city.
- Melbourne Park Redevelopment: Development Victoria’s General Manager of Civil Projects, James Evans, will discuss the Melbourne Park billion-dollar redevelopment. Entering into the third stage of construction, patrons will begin to see larger centralised public spaces, new pre-event and conference rooms and updated courts.
- Victoria’s Renewable Energy Action Plan: Benjamin White, the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning’s Director of Renewable Energy Strategy, Insight & Investment, will present the Victorian Government’s $149 million Renewable Energy Action Plan. Investments of smart software systems, battery and solar storage microgrid initiatives and grid-scale battery storage facilities all go towards empowering communities, sector growth and modernising out existing systems.
- West Gate Tunnel Project: Transurban is facilitating the West Gate Tunnel Project and their Program Director Major Projects Victoria, David Clements, is speaking on aspects regarding Phase 4 of the $5.5 million tunnel. In the fourth stage of planning, the current actions entail planning approvals, design refinements, creating an Environment Effects Statement and integrating communities in the process.
The 8th Annual Victorian Major Projects Conference 2017 will be hosted at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre on the 28th and 29th of November.
