More Information

This September just days before the AFL Grand Final, we’re heading back to the MCG to celebrate with the annual Victorian Chamber Pitcher Partners Grand Final Lunch. AFL retired legends Steve Johnson, Nick Riewoldt and Bob Murphy will join broadcaster Hamish McLachlan in a captivating conversation about life after sport and the transition to retirement.

In addition, Lily Mithen from Melbourne’s AFLW team will join Hamish and give us a look into AFLW and her already impressive career.

Entertain your clients and staff over canapés, a two-course premium lunch and drinks in the Olympic Room while overlooking the hallowed turf of the MCG just days before one of the biggest sporting events of the year. It’s the next best thing to being at the game!

After lunch, stay on for an hour of networking drinks and a chance to keep talking footy in the Betty Cuthbert Lounge from 3pm – 4pm.

Tickets are strictly limited and sell out every year, so reserve yours now.

MEET THE SPEAKERS

A three-time Premiership player and All-Australian representative, Steve Johnson is one of the most mercurial players in the modern game. Playing for Geelong Cats from 2002 – 2015, followed by Greater Western Sydney from 2016-2017, his 2007 season was a career highlight leading the Cats to victory in the Grand Final and winning the Norm Smith Medal for best on ground. Upon his retirement, Johnson is now an Assistant Coach at Sydney Swans.
Playing for St Kilda from 2001 to 2017 and captaining his club for a record 220 games over eleven years, Nick Riewoldt won their best and fairest award a record-breaking six times and was selected five times for the All-Australian team. He was the number 1 draft pick in the 2000 AFL draft and holds the all-time record for most marks in VFL/AFL history. In 2015 he lost his sister Madeleine to a rare bone marrow condition, and started the not-for-profit organisation Maddie Riewoldt's Vision to raise money for research into bone marrow failure. Since retiring in 2017, Riewoldt has moved into the Fox Footy commentary box, alongside other work commitments.
After being drafted to the Western Bulldogs with pick 13 in the 1999 Draft, Bob had an illustrious AFL career with the Bulldogs from 2000-2017. Renowned for his silky skills and leadership qualities, Bob is regarded as of the competition's best rebounding defenders, with exceptional skills and speed.
In 2015 Murphy was named captain of the year at the AFLPA awards becoming the fourth player to win the award in his first year as a captain and was also named captain of the all Australian team becoming the first ever player to have collected both honours in the same season.
Murphy now features regularly in the media, writing a weekly column in the sport section of The Age and a frequent guest on Fox Footy.
lily_mithen Lily Mithen plays for the AFLW Melbourne Football Club and was drafted by the club with their 10th selection and pick 73 overall in the 2016 AFL Women's draft. Mithen delivered for The Demons in season one, averaging 16 possessions per game to earn a NAB Rising Star nomination in Round 2 and eventually second place in the award. With the third most handballs of any player, Mithen finished fourth in Melbourne’s Best and Fairest. Another consistent season in 2018, highlighted by 19 possessions in Round 2 over Adelaide saw Mithen play another important role for the Demons, who again fell just short of a Grand Final berth.
Hamish is an Australian sports broadcaster currently employed with the Seven Network and Austereo. McLachlan co-hosts AFL Game Day on Sunday mornings, and calls AFL matches for the Seven Network on Saturdays and Sundays. Hamish has taken on numerous hosting duties for Seven including the Melbourne Cup Spring Racing coverage; The Brownlow Medal Red Carpet Specials; The ANZAC Day Pre Game Special; Grand Final day each year; and more.
