The Melbourne Chamber of Commerce


The Melbourne Chamber of Commerce brings together Victoria’s most influential and iconic organisations, business leaders, influencers and government representatives at local, state and federal level to affect policy, exchange ideas and lead Victorian business into the future. We are an independent, professional body for medium to large organisations who want to contribute to Victoria’s success.
We offer our members opportunities to:

Our members are drawn from diverse sectors and include organisations such as Boeing, Mercedes-Benz, Pitcher Partners, Equip Super, Port of Melbourne, McConnell Dowell, Minter Ellison, University of Melbourne, VicTrack, Joval Wine Group, Museums Victoria, Melbourne Airport and Cabrini Health.

Our people

Dianne Smith, Executive Director

Dianne joined the Melbourne Chamber of Commerce in 2016 after five years as the Chief Executive of Victoria Tourism Industry Council (VTIC). Dianne spent 25 years in the tourism industry, working in Melbourne and regional Victoria covering marketing, visitor services, policy and strategy. Her previous roles include Manager Tourism Partnerships, Parks Victoria, Executive Director, Ballarat Tourism, and Marketing and Visitor Services Manager at Melbourne Zoo. Between September 2015 and March 2016, Dianne was seconded by the Victorian Government to undertake the GM Regional role, in the transition to Visit Victoria.

Dianne has also worked in the hotel and computer industries, has a Bachelor of Economics and Politics, and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD).

She is also proud to be an Adjunct Professor, Victoria University – a role in which she can mentor young people into the industry.

Troy Wood, Relationship Manager

Troy has more than 15 years’ experience as a relationship manager working in customer roles within the recruitment and vocation education and training sectors. Prior to joining the Melbourne Chamber of Commerce, Troy managed the delivery of the Victorian government's 'Skills for Growth' program and the National Workforce Development Fund for two of Australia's largest Registered Training Organisations. In these roles, he led a team of workforce development specialists and assisted enterprises in identifying solutions to address their workforce development and general business needs.

Troy was able to link the enterprises to government-funded programs to support their business requirements.

Kim Samiotis, Membership Coordinator

Kim brings a wealth of experience in business administration to the Melbourne Chamber of Commerce team. Having commenced her career in the Real Estate industry over 15 years ago, she has accumulated valuable operational knowledge across a diversity of industry sectors including Finance, Hospitality, Property, Construction, and Sales & Marketing. This breadth of exposure allows her to challenge the status quo in business support, constantly seeking new methods and new ideas for improvement.

Kim’s experience and enthusiasm for customer service puts the member first, ensuring the Melbourne Chamber of Commerce’s valued members experience excellence across all services, events, and communications.

Daniel Mashta, Relationship Manager

Daniel is a consultative relationship manager, who previously worked in the membership team within the Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Prior to joining the Chamber, Daniel spent five years as the National Relationship Manager - Sales Engineer for Freudenberg, primarily servicing the resources and OEM industries; and before this, had worked as an engineer with both GM Holden and Siemens.

Daniel has completed a Grad-Diploma in Philosophy and Literature, Honors in Mechanical Engineering from RMIT University, and a Diploma of Marketing.

Daniel’s diverse experience, dedication to client needs and passion for adding value are what make him a dedicated and effective relationship manager for the Melbourne Chamber of Commerce members.

Priyanka Upadhyay, Business Development Consultant

Priyanka has worked with global technology brands in her career, gaining unparalleled experience in techno-commercial operations, sales and marketing, business development and relationship management. As a business development consultant at the Melbourne Chamber of Commerce, she is focused on accelerating growth and customer success with her forward thinking and results-oriented approach.

Priyanka’s extensive experience of working in international markets gives her a culturally and professionally diverse perspective towards the business and while embracing the core values of the Melbourne Chamber of Commerce, Priyanka thrives on being agile and responsive to the business needs of the Chamber and beyond.

Melanie Parkes, Events Manager, Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry

Melanie Parkes has more than 13 years’ experience in corporate events within the professional services, membership and not-for-profit industries. Melanie and her events team at the Victorian Chamber provide essential events support service for the Melbourne Chamber of Commerce (MCC) members, ranging from intimate Leadership Luncheons, to Best Practice Tours, Cocktail and Gala dinners and Corporate Hospitality along with executing the broader Victorian Chamber events to which the MCC members have access.
