Suicide is a major and preventable cause of death in Australia. Everyone in the workplace should learn about the warning signs for suicide and spot if a workmate could be at risk. This 4-hour course teaches how to offer mental health first aid to a person experiencing suicidal thoughts and behaviours.
Any interested adult can attend. Please note this course is not a therapy or support group, rather it is an education course to learn how to give first aid to someone who is feeling suicidal. Is not recommended for individuals recently bereaved by suicide.
This is a standalone course. It is not a pre-requisite to have competed the Mental Health First Aid or Blended Mental Health First Aid courses, however this would be beneficial. Executives and Senior Leaders may complete the Mental Health Fundamentals for Executives program. Managers may lead into the Mental Health Fundamentals for Managers or Mental Health Masterclass for HR and WHS Professionals courses. Employees may undertake Mental Health Fundamentals for employees.
