Despite COVID-19, Vietnam’s economy remains resilient achieving one of the highest growth rates in the world. Many people believe that Vietnam is following the same path of its neighbours and becoming the next “Asian miracle”.

With a population over 96 million, Vietnam is one of Australia’s fastest-growing trade markets with an average growth of 11.9 per cent annually. It is forecasted that by 2030, there will be 17 million burgeoning middle-class households in Vietnam which drives consumer spending growth as well as give rise to new consumer trends. This presents an exciting opportunity for Victorian exporters.

The Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry with support from Vietnam Economic Strategy Team of DFAT has launched Vietnam on the Map Program which directly addresses opportunities and challenges in the Vietnamese market through a range of practical training workshops, industry dialogues and virtual trade mission which aims to upskill Victorian exporters on doing business in Vietnam, build contacts and help them successfully engage this emerging market.

Participants of this Vietnam on the Map Program will be supported by governments, chambers of commerce and industry experts from both Australia and Vietnam creating an enlightening experience on this emerging market.

Learn from the experts in an interactive session and network with likeminded business professionals over lunch following the workshop. A perfect way to kick start your journey of exporting to Vietnam.

Workshop Module 1: Vietnam market fundamentals  |  Thursday 19 Aug

The workshop will cover essential knowledge on doing business in Vietnam - the basics of Vietnamese economy, political system and business environment, what drives Vietnam’s economic growth and shapes its social development, how Vietnamese entrepreneurs, consumers and employees think and act

Workshop Module 2: Vietnam market entry strategy and options  |  Wednesday 15 September

This workshop will discuss Vietnam market strategy, what does it contain and how does a business execute one, what market-entry options for Australian exporters (e.g. distributors, agents, joint venturing, licensing, e-commerce). What are key business opportunities in Vietnam.

Workshop Module 3: Regulatory compliance in Vietnam and export logistics  |  Wednesday 13 October

This workshop will provide an overview on the regulatory compliance required on selling products to Vietnam market. It will give Victorian exporters an insight on the process and procedure of customs clearance and compliance, free trade agreements, and IP protection. It will also cover the export logistics areas when exporters engages the Vietnamese market.

Workshop Module 4: Selling to Vietnamese consumers  |  Wednesday 10 November

This workshop will look into Vietnamese consumer market, analyze consumer dynamics and the behavioral characteristics and applications. It will help Victorian exporters understand the psyche of the buyers and the historical, economic and cultural contexts that influence on consumer behaviors in the Vietnamese market when they do business in Vietnam.

Workshop Module 5: Vietnamese Business culture, etiquette and business negotiations  |  Wednesday 8 December

This workshop will aim to help Victorian exporters understand the cultural and communication differences in Vietnam, improve their business negotiation skills and enable them to develop successful relationships with distributors/partners in Vietnam.

 

This activity received grant funding from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade under the Australia-Vietnam Enhanced Economic Engagement Grant Program 2021.

 

The Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) will deliver events in line with Victorian Government restrictions relating to COVID-19. These may include, without limitation, a mandate that all guests attending in-person events must be fully vaccinated. As more information comes to hand, VCCI will confirm with registered attendees the conditions of entry for each relevant event.
