The Industry Capability Network (ICN) maintains a directory of Victorian suppliers and their capabilities, conducts industry and geographic supply chain mapping as well as supplier briefings.

If you are tendering for a project worth over $1 million in regional Victoria or $3 million in metropolitan Melbourne, the ICN will help you prepare a Local Industry Development Plan. They can also assist with implementing this plan by holding supplier briefings and identifying local suppliers to ensure you meet your local content targets.

For example, the Personal Alert Victoria project is delivering with a commitment to 94% local content, under the Local Jobs First – Victorian Industry Participation Policy. As a result, around 33 outstanding Victorian businesses are contributing to this project – supporting 105 local jobs, including 2 trainees.

The Commissioner also monitors, reviews and enforces compliance with the Local Jobs First Policy and the commitments and obligations of contractors under the policy; this includes investigations where the Commissioner has reasonable grounds to believe non-compliance is occurring or when there is a complaint.

The Commissioner has met with over 150 stakeholders since their appointment, finding that engagement during the early stages of a project is the most beneficial.
