Melbourne Cup Day symbolised an important step forward in our state’s recovery, signalling to the rest of the country – and the world – that we are back doing what we do best. It was just what our state needed.

As Victoria’s economic recovery accelerates, I am extremely pleased to announce the Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry will host an exclusive breakfast with the Prime Minister of Australia, The Hon. Scott Morrison MP, next Wednesday 10 November at MCEC. The Prime Minister will join us to deliver a presentation followed by a short audience Q&A. This will be the Prime Minister’s first keynote address following his recent trip to the G20 and COP26 Summits. Victorian businesses are ready to leave the last two COVID-impacted years behind them. To celebrate, recognise and reward the hard work, effort and determination of the employers and employees who have ensured that customers, workers and suppliers can all return to COVIDSafe environments, the Victorian Chamber, in partnership with the Victorian Government Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions has launched the Victorian COVIDSafe Business Awards.

These awards are being driven by the recent launch of the Victorian Chamber’s Safe In Our Hands campaign, and showcases the exemplar COVIDSafe businesses and industry leaders who have implemented innovative and commendable COVIDSafe strategies, measures, and plans. As our state embraces a new beginning, it’s important we keep focused on the road ahead. My priority and that of the Victorian Chamber team will increasingly shift to restoring consumer and business confidence, attracting investment, and unleashing entrepreneurs once again so that we can not only rebound from COVID-19, but thrive in a new economy.

We want Victoria to be the best place in Australia to live, learn, work and operate a business in order to reclaim our global reputation. Now, more than ever, Victorian businesses need our support.
