What are grants?
Most commonly, business grants are sums of money (or subsidised amounts) given to a business to help them achieve an outcome. Often that outcome is growth in existing markets, growth in new markets, job creation, or innovation, but can also be to help reduce business costs or meet environmental targets, for example providing grants for businesses to install solar panels.
Grants can come from many sources including the Local Council, State Government, Federal Government, a corporation, not-for-profit foundation, or trust. The Victorian Chamber Grant Finder focuses on grants for businesses provided by all levels of government.
Businesses of all sizes can receive grants – from sole traders to large corporations – but not every grant will be suitable for all businesses as different eligibility criteria will apply.
We know how hard it can be for business to find what grants they can access and how time-consuming the process can be. The Victorian Chamber Grant Finder is here to be your enabler to support your business’ growth.
Is my business eligible?
Every available grant or support for Victorian business comes with its own objectives, eligibility criteria, and stringent conditions - which is why it is so important to carefully research your eligibility. Some of the eligibility criteria your business may have to adhere to include:
- Your business’ industry
- Operating locations;
- Minimum sales turnover
- Workforce size
- Your business being able to provide matching funds
However generally grants are only available to businesses that:
- Have an Australian Business Number (ABN)
- Are not subject to any legal constraint, such as bankruptcy or liquidation
