Local Government elections

Lord Mayor election

Message from Victorian Chamber Chief Executive, Paul Guerra

The Victorian Chamber has long held a view that the leadership of the City of Melbourne sets a strong example for the rest of the State’s local governance.

Our interest in this year’s Lord Mayor election is motivated by ensuring the right leadership to steer the city through COVID-19 recovery.

We asked all nine Lord Mayoral candidates to provide an overview of what they have to offer for business and jobs. Messages received are attached, unedited, for you to read and make your own assessment. Not all candidates took up the opportunity to outline their policies and vision for Melbourne. The Chamber thanks candidates Arron Wood, Phil Reed and Sally Capp for their input.

At this election, the Victorian Chamber asks you to consider which Lord Mayor candidate will best represent business and leadership – qualities that are fundamental to the future of our great city.

If you live in the City of Melbourne municipality, please make sure you vote. And please vote for the candidate you believe will represent business in all its forms in the best way.

Good luck
Paul Guerra
