Victorian Chamber welcomes funding for Mordialloc Bypass

The Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry welcomes the State Government’s announcement of a further $75 million to upgrade the Mordialloc Bypass, connecting the Mornington Peninsula Freeway with the Dingley Bypass.

Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Executive Director Dugald Murray said the Victorian Chamber has been a long term advocate for investment in Melbourne’s infrastructure, and this vital project will benefit residents and businesses in Melbourne’s South-East.

Melbourne businesses urged to join the conversation on city’s transport future

The Victorian Chamber welcomes today’s release of a discussion paper on the future transport needs of the city and the suggestion of greater pedestrian access.

Melbourne Chamber of Commerce - Exclusive behind the scenes tour of the Boeing Aerostructures Australia factory in Melbourne

Last week Melbourne Chamber of Commerce members were privileged to experience an exclusive behind the scenes tour of the Boeing Aerostructures Australia (BAA) factory in Melbourne. 

Boeing Aerostructures Australia is a member of the Melbourne Chamber of Commerce and is Boeing’s largest manufacturing site outside North America. It is located in Fishermans Bend and employs 1,100 people. The  company has a long heritage in Australian aviation in Victoria that began with its legacy companies in 1927, and has been building aeroplanes since WWII.

Strong manufacturing performance lifts business confidence

Victorian business confidence in the state economy jumped in the final quarter of 2017, according to the Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s quarterly Business Trends and Prospects Survey.

More than one in three Victorian businesses expect the State economy to grow over the next 12 months. This is the most optimistic businesses have been in over four years.

Much of this confidence is being driven by Victoria’s manufacturing sector.

Business owners urged to enrol for Lord Mayor by-election

The Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chief Executive Mark Stone AM urges Melbourne business owners and directors to enrol to vote for the by-election for Lord Mayor.

To be able to vote you must be enrolled by 4pm tomorrow (Friday 16 March 2018).

“It is important that Melbourne business owners and directors enrol so they can have a voice in the election of the Lord Mayor, a position that is vital to the ongoing wellbeing of this city, and it is vital that business has a strong voice in the future of Melbourne,” he said.

Victorian Chamber launches State regional election campaign: Stronger Business Stronger Victoria

The Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the State’s largest and most influential employer organisation, today launched its 2018 election campaign calling on all political parties to commit to reforms that will accelerate trade, investment and employment growth throughout regional Victoria.

Victorian Chamber Chief Executive Mark Stone AM said regional Victoria is vital to the Victorian economy. It is home to more than 140,000 businesses employing 600,000 people and contributes 20 per cent of the State’s economic output.

Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry launches State election campaign: Stronger Business Stronger Victoria

The Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the State’s largest and most influential business organisation, today launched its election campaign saying the next State Government must build on Victoria’s strong economic base to grow business and grow jobs.

Victorian Chamber Chief Executive Mark Stone AM said Victoria’s 590,000 businesses contribute a quarter of the nation’s economic output and employ nearly 2.5 million people, making them the undoubted engine room of the State economy.

Growing business and growing jobs must be a priority in 2018/19 State Budget

The Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry today called on the State Government to work with business to grow jobs by increasing the payroll tax threshold, employing more apprentices and trainees, progressing the North East Link and supporting investment in regional Victoria as priorities in the 2018/19 State Budget.

Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chief Executive Mark Stone AM said that structural change is creating employment challenges especially for low skilled, young and regional Victorians.
