Fair Work Update - How to Manage Misconduct in the Workplace

What behaviours are considered misconduct in the workplace and how do I manage them when they occur? Will a breach of a policy or code be considered a ‘valid reason’, was my investigation thorough; what do I do if the employee resigns, what other factors do I need to consider?

As you can see, instances of misconduct create many questions for employers and at this briefing the Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Workplace Relations Consultants will share their insights to help you manage misconduct and ensure you are aware of all the circumstances you must take in to account. We will examine interesting cases about ‘dodgy’ sales, conducting an investigation and disciplinary processes particularly under time pressure whilst the employee is absent and refuses to participate.

We will also look at topical issues including:

  • Can having a personal relationship with a colleague amount to misconduct?
  • Update on protecting the business from liability arising from misconduct occurring outside of work.

This is a valuable opportunity to engage with experts and extend your understanding of workplace relations laws.
