The Hall of Fame celebrates manufacturing companies and individuals who excel in business innovation and productivity, and contribute to strengthening Victoria’s economy.

Nominations for the awards are now open and will close on Tuesday 12 March 2019. We have been proud to see our members recognised for their strengths in manufacturing over the years and we encourage all businesses and individuals within this sector to nominate and showcase their capabilities and commitment to business excellence.

Manufacturers can nominate for the awards by visiting the Business Victoria website.

In other news, the Victorian Chamber has made a submission to the Victorian Government’s Inquiry into the Victorian On-Demand Workforce to ensure it takes care to avoid recommending regulatory changes that damage opportunities for on-demand businesses and workers. To view a copy of our submission, please visit our website.

Last week, we welcomed new legislation to establish a default energy offer that could reduce the cost of energy for small businesses across the state.

The Energy Legislation Amendment (Victorian Default Offer) Bill 2019 will set a fair price for energy and will reform retail energy contracts to ensure that they are clear and easier to understand. The Victorian Chamber has been working with governments to address rising energy bills and this reform could make it easier for business to compare energy offers and to ensure that they are paying a fair price for gas and electricity.

We also recently made a public statement calling on all political parties to support legislation to be introduced into the Victorian Parliament to progress the West Gate Tunnel project. With the strong view that any attempt to block or delay the legislation will damage the state economy and Victorian liveability, we will continue to advocate for its development. Please read our media release for further information.
