This month, the Victorian Chamber met with Ben Morton, Assistant Minister to the Prime Minister and Cabinet, to discuss the Federal Government’s recently announced Deregulation Taskforce.

The Taskforce will work with state and territory governments and businesses to identify and address the most significant regulatory barriers to investment, trade and jobs growth.

Red tape reform is a priority for the Victorian Chamber, and we will provide direct input to the Taskforce. You can help us by sharing your experience with unnecessary Commonwealth or State government regulations by contacting our policy team at policy@victorianchamber.com.au.

We were also pleased to host Austrade Deputy CEO Tim Beresford at a roundtable with Melbourne Chamber of Commerce members.

Tim gave impressive commentary on global trade issues and insightful advice, including the need for city level market strategies in countries like China and Indonesia, and the potential for continued growth in our largest service-based export sector, international education.

In other news, we were delighted to see Chamber members well represented amongst the winners at the 40th Governor of Victoria Export Awards. Congratulations to Care Essentials, Select Harvests, Swisse Wellness and Melbourne University, who all took out category awards. A big congratulations to Melbourne University who won the Exporter of the Year award. And also congratulations to STI Limited’s Samantha Cheetham who won the Victorian Women in International Business award.

The Victorian Chamber was proud to sponsor the new Technology and Innovation category, recognising outstanding international success in the field of information and communication products, technology or services. Congratulations to the winner, Two Bulls, a digital product studio based in Melbourne and New York.

Thank you and I wish you all a great week ahead.
