In the past year, the Victorian Government has established two initiatives aimed at ensuring Victorian businesses and their employees benefit from the government’s major infrastructure investments: the Local Jobs First Policy and the Social Procurement Framework.

In August 2018, the Local Jobs First Policy became law and the Victorian Government released the Local Jobs First Policy, Agency and Supplier Guidelines in October. Its implementation is supported by the Office of Industry Participation and Jobs (OIPJ).

The Social Procurement Framework was established in April 2018 as a whole-of-government approach to generate social value above and beyond the value of goods, services or construction procured by the Victorian Government.

Beginning at the end of this month, the Victorian Government is hosting a series of free information sessions to help suppliers implement the Local Jobs First Policy and the Social Procurement Framework. These information sessions are open to all those involved or want to be involved with businesses that supply to government projects. They are an opportunity to hear firsthand from the OIPJ, the Local Jobs First Commissioner Don Matthews, the Industry Capability Network and representatives from the Victorian Government discussing the Social Procurement Framework.

To register for one of the three sessions, please find the links below.
