The awards recognise excellence and innovation across the Victorian Public Sector and

Wyndham City Council was the only local government to win in this year’s awards.

Wyndham City’s Portfolio holder for Environment and Water, Cr Heather Marcus said the award was a fantastic recognition of the work that had been done in delivering the ‘Wyndham Solar City’ project.

“This project saw the installation of more than 7,000 panels across 35 Council and community centres. This would not have been achieved without the teamwork and collaboration that made it possible,” Cr Marcus said.

“As a growing city, we face a range of environmental challenges and this project is

critical to how we manage growth sustainably and invest in our infrastructure for future generations.”

“Over its’ lifetime the large-scale solar project will save 52,900 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions as well as deliver significant savings on energy costs. Over $4 million will be saved in energy costs over the next 20 years.”
