On 19 May 2022, the Victorian Chamber is facilitating the Virtual Vocational Education and Training Industry Dialogue, where four major public-owned TAFE institutes in Victoria – Box Hill Institute, Chisholm Institute, Holmesglen Institute, Kangan Institute – will join and meet like-minded VET providers in Vietnam.

Victoria leads the national in the delivery of VET, both onshore and offshore. VET accounts for a quarter of international students in Victoria.

Offshore, close to 80 per cent of Australian TAFE transnational activity is delivered by Victorian TAFE institutes.

Victorian VET providers currently deliver skills training and work in partnership with governments and industry partners in Asia.

They also offer a range of training and consulting services to companies, governments and other educational institutions internationally.

Victoria’s publicly owned TAFE institutes have long been known as the backbone of the VET industry delivering a wide range of courses, from entry-level to higher-level vocational training qualifications, and tertiary degrees as well.

The virtual Industry Dialogue will explore insights, opportunities and challenges of the Vietnam VET Industry and present an opportunity to understand each other’s capabilities, communicate on areas of collaboration and develop relationships for further growth.

Tim O’Callaghan, Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry General Manager, Strategic Initiatives, will present the opening address.

“Vietnam is one of the most dynamic emerging countries in Southeast Asia region and is one of Australia’s fastest-growing trade markets,” Mr O’Callaghan said.

“As Vietnam’s economy continues to grow, demand for skills workforce will be high in businesses’ agenda as well. Many of them will turn to VET providers for solutions.”

Matt Wardrop, Kangan Institute Head of Business Development and Major Ventures, told the Victorian Chamber: “Kangan Institute is thrilled to be involved in this year’s Virtual Vocational Education and Training Industry Dialogue and meet with like-minded VET providers both in Vietnam and here in Victoria.

“We thank the Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for providing Kangan Institute with the opportunity to better understand the local and international VET sector, discuss options for collaboration and to strengthen our relationships across the sector.”
