Business Voice: A different side to Eddie McGuire

In Episode Two, Series Two of “Business Voice”, Melbourne icon Eddie McGuire takes the Victorian Chamber on a journey from his first steps into journalism to becoming one of Australia’s most recognised and respected identities.

Business Voice is the Victorian Chamber’s podcast for Australian business. When business does well, Australia does well.

Few people encapsulate this better than the face of iconic TV shows, voice of sports broadcasts and former President of Collingwood Football Club.

Eddie McGuire was 13 years old when he began his first job in media and is now a visionary in the worlds of sports, media, entertainment and business.

Hear more about his journey from the man himself as he is interviewed by Victorian Chamber Chief Executive Paul Guerra: his evolution into an influential multi-media figure, his heroes and motivations, his most profound realisations and next big projects, and how his family has always been and continues to be his number one priority.

“There’s the old saying that some of the great ideas come from the person who plants the acorn, knowing they’ll never sit under the shade of the tree,” Eddie says.

“I’m getting to the stage of my life for these things are starting to happen now.

That’s the great fun of it when you can actually sit back and say, well, that one works and that one didn’t, but we can learn from that.

“And as we know, a lot of good ideas prove to be good ideas a long time after they’ve been hammered by the media.”
