20 September 2023

Victorians have an exclusive opportunity to hear and discuss how to shape the future of the State around population increases, growth suburbs, multicultural Melbourne, health and transport.

Following a sell-out audience in its first year, the Herald Sun and the Victorian Chamber have collaborated to stage a second exclusive event on the future of Victoria.

Last year, ahead of the 2022 State Election campaign, Victorian Treasurer Tim Pallas, former Opposition Leader Matthew Guy and a panel of business leaders outlined their visions for the future of the economy, business, health, infrastructure, education, the arts and many other aspects that impact our lives.

Now, audiences will have the opportunity to hear from carefully selected expert speakers and engage and network with like-minded members of the Victorian business community around the following two questions:

  • What is Victoria’s ‘brand’ and how do we project that to the world?
  • How should Victoria grow in a smart and sustainable way?

The event will facilitate discussions and audience Q&A sessions with a yet-to-be-announced panel and will also hear from keynote speaker Lucinda Hartley.

Lucinda is an award-winning urban designer, a cofounder of world-leading social analytics company Neighbourlytics, and a globally recognised expert in smart cities and social change.

Named as one of Australia’s 100 Most Influential Women by the Australian Financial Review, Lucinda is a technology leader who offers inspiration and practical advice on the future of living, the future of work and how technology can be a force for good in turbulent times.

Lucinda is an ‘urban futurist’ who has spent the past decade pioneering innovative solutions for improving cities and neighbourhoods, now adopted globally. She helped create the UN Sustainable Development Goals for cities and has delivered more than 100 neighbourhood improvement projects across Australia.

Lucinda will draw on her experience across emerging technology and design to inspire some of the most important questions of our time: how we live, work, connect and build community.

Victorian Chamber Chief Executive Paul Guerra said: “Events like Future Victoria help us to map out where we need to go, rather than rely on where we have been.

“The future success of Victoria requires a united vision, a creative spirit, and an innovative lens.

“We urge all those willing to commit to shaping the next phase of our state to join us for this pioneering event.”
