Business Voice is the Victorian Chamber’s podcast for Australian business. When business does well, Australia does well.

In our second season we take a broader view of the industries, issues and individuals that make Victoria tick.

In Episode Six, Series Two, we speak to the driving force behind initiatives that address critical issues and make a lasting impact on the lives of many.

Ann Peacock has an extensive career in leadership, public relations, event management, media, stakeholder, brand and sponsorship management, marketing and communications.

She was the face and voice of Crown, both to the public and to the businesspeople of Melbourne, for nearly three decades – in a “wonderful” role that was also “sometimes incredibly tough”.

“It was really tough because if you look back say two decades ago, where people really weren’t accepting women in the work forces. They do so ‘generously’ now. It was very, very tough but a lot of hard work,” she said.

“I was fortunate to have the most wonderful group of people. They were loyal and we worked together hard and that’s one of the things I would really stress. Loyalty is utmost importance to me.”

Ms Peacock opened up about her desire to “give back” to the community and, given her background, political ambitions.

“One of my greatest responsibilities is giving back. I have seriously thought about that idea, running for Lord Mayor, running in state politics, running in federal politics. I have still not given up the idea of fulfilling that hope to really give back to the community in an official way. [But] there’s nothing to report at this point in time.”
