Welcome to our last bulletin for the year and our last bulletin for the decade.

This week, the Victorian Chamber joined forces with five leading organisations from the business, investor, union, community and environment sectors, to call for decisive State Government action on climate change.

The overwhelming weight of science tells us that decarbonising our economy is necessary.

If managed well, decarbonisation can benefit local business, workers and communities.

No action will leave business and workers exposed, and will impact on all Victorians.

Local innovation, investment and a carefully managed transition will be vital to successfully tackling climate change and securing business interests, jobs and sustainable prosperity.

A succession of rapidly reversed policies or no policy at all, will result in further damage to Victoria’s reputation and competitiveness.

There are compelling reasons for more action on climate change and we are calling on Commonwealth, State, Territory and Local governments to work with business to adopt bipartisan policies and measures that set Australia on a pathway to achieving net zero emissions.

In other news, the Victorian Chamber has released the 2020 course directory, which contains hundreds of short courses, accredited diplomas and certificates, and briefings and webinars, which will run across Victoria from January to June.

The directory includes a wide variety of training programs tailored to cover every part of running a successful, contemporary business - including leadership and management, emotional intelligence, mental health, and much more.

If you haven’t already done so, I encourage you to view the directory online at victorianchamber.com.au, and see how you and your staff can engage with us to assist in moving your business forward.

Many of you will be looking forward to a well-earned break after a busy and productive 2019. The end of the year is a great time to reflect on our achievements and the contributions we have made and think about our aspirations for the new year ahead.

This is my last bulletin after eight and a half years at the Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Thank you for your support of the Victorian Chamber during this time and I wish our new Chief Executive, Paul Guerra all the very best.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your families, and all the very best in 2020.
