New scheme to employ mature age Australians in your industry

18 May 2022

The Federal Government is calling on small businesses to help close employment barriers for mature age workers who can bring extensive knowledge, life skills and work experience to your workplace.

The Department of Education, Skills and Employment is seeking partnerships with small businesses who have less than 20 employees to increase employment opportunities for mature aged workers over 55 years. This involves working from June to November 2022 to develop tailored approaches to support your business’ unique requirements.

Small businesses in the hospitality, retail and care industries are particularly encouraged to register. Mature aged workers provide a diverse perspective to business strategies and products and are reliable, efficient and hardworking, with transferrable skills forged over many years.

As a thank you for providing your time and insights, the Federal Government will provide a $1,000 voucher at the completion of the project. You will also receive strategies tailored to your specific circumstances that you can continue to use to recruit and retain high-quality employees once the project is complete.

Find out more information and register your interest in participating before 31 May 2022.
