Victorian Chamber welcomes strategy to protect from cyber crime

The Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry commends the Federal Government's commitment to enhancing national cyber security through its recently unveiled 2023-2030 Australian Cyber Security Strategy.

As a cyber advocacy leader, the Victorian Chamber has provided detailed industry insights to the Federal Government promoting robust cyber security measures. We are pleased to announce our alignment with the federal strategy, which has embraced 17 out of 24 policy ideas from our own Cyber Security and Scams Policy Position, either partially or in full.

These include our top three game-changers of establishing Cyber Health Clinics with one-on-one support to uplift business cyber security; a Cyber Safe Score (voluntary labelling scheme for consumer-grade smart devices); and an apprenticeship training model to professionalise Australia’s domestic cyber workforce.

The strategic congruence between the Victorian Chamber's policy position and the federal strategy reflects a unified commitment to fortify the nation's digital resilience against evolving cyber threats. With a shared vision for a secure digital landscape, both entities aim to safeguard businesses and individuals from the increasing complexities of cyber threats.

The Victorian Chamber remains committed to collaborating with the Federal Government and stakeholders to strengthen Australia's cyber security posture.

“The threat of cyber crime is a massive concern for our members, so the Victorian Chamber is pleased that the Federal Government has set out a strategy to bolster our collective defences.

“We commend the Federal Government’s Cyber Security Strategy, and we are delighted that many of the initiatives align with the Victorian Chamber’s Policy which was released in September this year. Our Policy was a result of strong engagement with Victorian businesses from small, medium and large enterprises.

“We look forward to seeing the operational detail of the strategy, and how the Victorian Chamber will be engaged to implement programs, campaigns and projects for Victorian businesses to help Australia become the most cyber secure nation by 2030.”
