The recent release of the 2021 Student Experience Survey has confirmed Deakin’s position at the top for a 13^th consecutive year.

About 76.5 per cent of Deakin students rated their overall experience as ‘good’ or ‘excellent’ in the 2021 annual survey, which is part of the Federal Government Department of Education’s Quality Indicators for Learning and Teaching (QILT).

This was the highest result among Victorian universities and an increase on Deakin’s 2020 result of 72.9 per cent.

The Melbourne Chamber congratulates Deakin, which rated strongly across several components, ranking number 1 in Victoria across the following categories:

• Satisfaction with Learning Resources: 85.6 per cent
• Satisfaction with Teaching Quality: 82 per cent
• Satisfaction with Skills Development: 80.5 per cent
• Satisfaction with Student Support: 77.2 per cent

Vice-Chancellor Professor Iain Martin said Deakin students and staff had shown remarkable resilience and determination over an incredibly tough two years: “The hard work and dedication of our students and staff are why Deakin’s quality educational experience continues to be recognised.

“These are remarkable results in the circumstances. I congratulate our students and staff for their dedication and success and my appreciation for their trust in Deakin.”

Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Professor Liz Johnson also said: “It is particularly pleasing to see the increase in student satisfaction with teaching quality and learning resources in 2021, as we apply the insights from our early pandemic response.

“The results are a testament to the hard work and innovation of our teaching teams and our partnerships with students.”
