Avoid potential fines. Know your rehabilitation obligations and facilitate a smooth transition back to productivity.

Returning injured employees is an important part of their rehabilitation. An unsuccessful or prolonged return to work can be detrimental to your staff and your organisation. Additionally, the Workplace Injury Rehabilitation and Compensation Act requires employers to meet certain obligations regarding occupational rehabilitation and the return of injured workers to work. Failure to meet these obligations can expose you to significant fines and potential prosecution.

This course covers the importance of establishing and implementing return to work plans that give the best chance of measuring a worker's compliance, and the consequences should a worker fail to meet their obligations under the Act.

Learning outcomes

During this program you will increase your knowledge of:

The purpose and nature of occupational rehabilitation and risk management programs in the workplace, and be able to analyse these programs for effectiveness and completeness
The role and the key responsibilities of the return to work coordinator
The purpose and nature of return to work plans and offers of suitable employment
How to support injured workers in the workplace
Developing policies, procedures and an injury management framework that enables you to respond to workplace injuries
Deal confidently with treating practitioners and other key parties in the return to work process

Participants

This course is suited to nominated return to work coordinators and anyone responsible for helping injured colleagues return to work.

Learning pathway

This program is part of the Return to work pathway designed to give return to work coordinators with an in-depth understanding of employer obligations around occupational rehabilitation and return to work of injured workers.

The pathway also includes the 'Workers' Compensation Fundamentals' course.

If you are a new Return to work coordinator, we recommend you build on your experience by attending the 'Workers' Compensation Fundamentals' course frst. If you are an experienced return to work coordinator, you can enter the pathway at any stage by choosing the program that best reflects your learning needs.

What should I do if I am unable to log into my Victorian Chamber account?

The Customer Service team can manually reset your Victorian Chamber online account and email you further information on the login details. Please email Customerservice@victorianchamber.com.au or via phone on 03 8662 5211 and provide your membership number or trading name, your name, email address, and contact number. We will then arrange for a new password.

Will I earn a digital badge?

A badge is a digital way to represent your certification achievement. We are pleased to have partnered with Credly to provide you with a digital version of your credentials for some of our training courses. Are all courses delivered online as well as in-person?

Most of our courses are offered online as well as in-person. However, due to the content and structure of some courses they may be offered either online or in-person. How are Online courses delivered?

Online courses ae delivered using zoom. Details on how to log in, the zoom link and course materials will be emailed to the participant prior to the course commencement.
