Duration and commitment

The Certificate IV will take a minimum of 10 months to complete and includes 10 full day sessions (9:30AM – 4:30PM) scheduled at least once a month. Attendance for each session is 100% mandatory, as each session will cover a different unit of competency.

Victorian Chamber are committed to providing flexible and accessible training opportunities. To achieve this, we have adopted a rolling intake approach for our courses. This will allow you to commence your studies at various points throughout the year, rather than being limited to fixed semester start dates. It is important to note that the duration of the program is the same for all students.

For further details regarding the 2024 scheduled dates or the next rolling intake, please contact training@victorianchamber.com.au.

Assessments

Our programs consist of a combination of face-to-face sessions and self-directed learning and assessment activities. Whilst it is difficult to predict the exact time allocation required to complete the self-directed learning activities and/or assessment tasks, a significant personal time commitment is required from you to successfully complete all requirements to gain your qualification.

Assessments are generally due prior to the following session and have been designed to holistically assess the competence in each unit and are made up of a variety of assessment tasks and may include the following:

  • Written questions
  • Case studies
  • Project work
  • Demonstration, observation and/or role-play

The Victorian Chamber’s training programs are delivered by the very best instructors. Phil Lovelock, pictured below,  is one of the people responsible for teaching the BSB41419 Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety. Phil is an occupational health and safety professional with over 30 years of experience across a broad range of industry types including pharmaceutical manufacturing, power and water utilities, airports, public transport, health and community services, emergency services and tourism.

Phil brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Cert IV in Work, Health and Safety and can make understanding the legislation and all that flows around it a pleasure to learn. His passion for not only safety but passing on his knowledge is evident within his session and somewhat contagious (in a positive way!). It was always an enjoyable experience to undertake a session with Phil.

I found the training very enjoyable and relevant to what I was looking to achieve. Phil in particular was very approachable and was always happy to answer any queries and give us scenarios to help to explain situations. His knowledge of the topic was nothing short of amazing.
