New round of manufacturing growth program

Small and medium-sized Victorian manufacturers can now apply for grants under Round 2 of the Made in Victoria – Manufacturing Growth Program.

The program supports businesses to introduce new technology, improve productivity and competitiveness in local and global supply chains, upskill workers and create new jobs.

Underpinned by the Made in Victoria 2030: Manufacturing Statement, Made in Victoria – Manufacturing Growth Program Round 2 will assist small and medium manufacturers with an existing presence in Victoria to:

  • expand their capacity and capability by implementing new manufacturing technologies as outlined in the Made in Victoria 2030 – Manufacturing Statement
  • improve productivity and competitiveness in local and global supply chains
  • create new jobs, upskill and reskill workers
  • support Victoria’s transition towards net zero emissions.

Eligible grants will support the purchase and commissioning of capital equipment and associated project expenditure related to manufacturing product and process improvements, prototyping, evaluation and testing of new products and processes, and supply chain capability development.

Grants of between $50,000 to $250,000 are available and must be matched by a minimum cash co-contribution of $2 for every $1 granted.

Recipients of Round 1 of the program were announced last month, which included Victorian Chamber members.

Minister for Industry and Jobs Natalie Hutchins said: “Manufacturing is critical to growing our economy and supporting local jobs. These grants will help more local businesses to innovate and expand, drive investment, and compete globally.”

Also available to manufacturers is the recently launched Made in Victoria – Energy Technologies Manufacturing Program to support manufacturers to purchase or develop new equipment, skills, or technology to capitalise on renewable energy opportunities.
