Melbourne Airport engaged the Victorian Chamber’s Workplace Relations Consulting team to assist with renegotiation of our Enterprise Agreement. Melbourne Airport works within a complex regulatory framework and is a major, and growing, centre of economic activity in the north-west, welcoming over 35 million travellers every year. Our recent agreement involved negotiation with four unions and varied employee groups across two states, Victoria and Tasmania. Richard from the Victorian Chamber was an integral part of the negotiating team and worked with us every step of the way from the pre-planning stage through to management of a complex lodgement and assessment process. Engaging with the Victorian Chamber team enabled the negotiating team to fully focus on our operational and strategic goals, with regard to the risks, requirements and opportunities within the bargaining framework. With the Consultant sitting with us at the bargaining table, we proceeded as a focused and energised leadership team. Ensuring that our strategy was articulated and settled at the commencement of the process meant that we could respond effectively to opportunities and keep the process moving. Communication with our employees was enhanced and ultimately resulted in a positive process and successful vote.
